Heralded as one of the most trendsetting filmmakers of Tamil cinema, Karthik Subbaraj is also known for the encouraging compliments he gives to films made by fellow directors. His previous directorial, the Rajinikanth-starrer Petta, went on to become one of the biggest blockbusters of 2019.
Recently, Karthik Subbaraj was all praise for director Lokesh Kanagaraj's second directorial, the action-thriller Kaithi which starred Karthi, Naren, George Maryan and Arjun Das in central roles. In his tweet, Karthik mentioned that although he caught the film a bit late, he still felt the energetic festive spirit while watching the film.
Released on October 25 along with Vijay's Bigil, Kaithi emerged as a highly successful due to positive word-of-mouth and critical response. Produced by Dream Warrior Entertainment, the film is currently running in theatres.
Karthik Subbaraj will be helming the gangster-thriller, tentatively titled D40, which stars Dhanush and Aishwarya Lekshmi as leads while Joju George, James Cosmo and others play important roles. The film is produced by Sashikanth under the banner YNot Studios.
