During a recent discussion with the media, Kamal Haasan talked about his political entry and where does he stand now.
"I have always asked this question on why I should join politics. That question kept me away from entering into politics. But someone will have to clear this shit and make this place habitable for people. It might sound dramatic when I say this but the fact that politicians have slowly with or without realizing it have pulled down the state to such a pathetic level.
Not just the politicians, even the people have been part of this corruption. We have been accessories to their crime. When people take 5000 rs for a vote, they are cheated, and it is bad business. The people are worth more than that. They can achieve more than 5000 rs per day if there is a good government instead they settle for one-day payment of 5000 for 5 years.
This has to be changed; first people need to change and realize that they have to be honest if they need an honest man in the top. I will take the plunge if needed. Only if the situation necessitates that and it doesn't mean I need to jump in tomorrow. I must prepare, my fulcrum must be strong enough to lift the weight that is going to come.
People already want to join my welfare association. I am not sure whether its opportunism or enthusiasm. We will have to be careful about collecting people. For 37 years, people in my welfare association have been working, but they did not look for this future. Now they will work further if I ask them to and they are not looking for power, and neither am I. We will seize the power if that is the only way to deliver service to people."
