A tragic incident occurred in Kodungaiyur where two young children were fatally electrocuted by power lines broken due to the recent heavy rains in the region.

Moved by the tragedy, actor Kamal Haasan took to his Twitter space to say:

"கொடுங்கையுூரில் குழந்தைகளின் கொடுஞ்சாவிற்கு அனுதாபமும் நிதியுதவியும் அரசு செய்தால் போதாது. இனியும்  நிகழாதிருக்க அவனவெல்லாம் செய்ய வேணடும்"

Roughly translated, this means: Mere condolences and financial aid for the families affected by the brutal deaths of the children of Kodungaiyur are not enough. The government must do everything to ensure that such incidents do not occur again.
