It is no secret that film industries, irrespective of language and location, are going through a tumultuous time with work having come to a standstill. Therefore, it has become imperative for people belonging to the industry to come up with requests to cut down on the losses.
In this regard, popular actor-cum-producer J Sathish Kumar has put forth a few suggestions:
- Actors and technicians to cut their salaries by 30 per cent.
- Film financiers look at waiving interest for the next three to four months.
- Requesting cooperation from theatres to re-release films affected by the lockdown.
- Requesting theatre owners, other unions, big film producers to give preference to smaller film releases as a priority, as these producers will be facing a higher risk of loss, once the situation returns to normal.
It would be interesting to see how the shareholders in the industry react to the above suggestions.
