In a plea that was filed to stop the screening of the film Irandam Kuthu and to remove its promotional material from social media, the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court has ruled for a notice to be sent to the team.

When the plea came before Justices Kirubakaran and Pugazendhi, the duo said that while earlier movies like Pasamalar that extolled relationships were the call of the day, nowadays, films with double entendres seem to rule the roost and the same is being used for publicity for the film.

They also raised questions about the content on television that predominantly seemed to talk about illicit relationships and asked if there are no censors for them.

The petitioner’s grouse was that when the term “Irandu” was searched on the internet, the movie’s promotional material comes up and the same is detrimental for children and teens. Taking this into account, the justices said that notices have to be despatched to the movie’s crew, YouTube, Facebook and Google.

Once the replies are sought, further investigation has been pushed to November 2. Irandam Kuthu features the director himself, Santosh P Jayakumar as the main lead and the leading ladies of the movies are Mumbai-based actresses Karishma, Aakruthi and Meenal.

Apart from the lead, the film also features Ravi Mariya, Motta Rajendran, Chaams and Shalu Shamu in key roles. The film was planned to release in  May 2020 but had to be pushed due to the Coronavirus outbreak. The movie will be released worldwide by Rockfort Entertainment
