Tom Alter, a notable Indian actor of American descent, passed away on the 29th of September at his residence in Mumbai. Tom (67) was recently diagnosed with Stage IV skin cancer.

The Indian government awarded Tom Alter the prestigious Padma Shri in 2008. He has acted in several films like Aashiqui, Veer-Zaara, and Gandhi. It must be noted that he had also acted in the popular Television series Sakthiman.
