A couple of weeks ago, actor Vijay was directed to pay a fine of Rs.1 Lakh by the Madras High Court in a case of paying entry tax for his imported Rolls Royce Ghost car that was said to be purchased by the actor in the year 2011-12.

The actor had then filed a Writ of Mandamus seeking a court ruling ordering the TN Govt and concerned Government departments to restrain from collecting Entry Tax for his imported Rolls Royce Ghost car.

The writ petition which was dismissed by Justice Subramaniam, had been pending for nine years. The judge also criticised the actor for filing the petition to "avoid" paying the tax. He further said that paying tax is one's duty and not like donating an amount on their will.

Reportedly, Vijay's legal team had appealed the case and also pleaded to remove the remarks of the single judge against him. The petition came before judges Justice MM Sundresh and RN Manjula but did not carry the judgement copy which is mandatory.

Now, the Madras High Court has accepted the appeal of Vijay and stated that even if there is no copy of the earlier order, the registrar can schedule and number the case for hearing. And hence, the case is expected to come for court's hearing soon.
