Amidst the severe damages in Kanyakumari due to the Ockhi cyclone, actor–music director G. V. Prakash Kumar has voiced out in favour of the people in Kanyakumari.

The actor said that, “As everyone was expecting a cyclone in Chennai, the cyclone hit Kanyakumari in a never-before way. I happened to know the intensity of the storm through the media and I decided to visit Kanyakumari on December 10. After visiting the place, I have returned with a heavy heart. I heard the people say that they do not need relief measures, all they needed was their relatives who lost their way fishing and stranded in the middle of the sea. They also said that if they were foretold of the cyclone, they wouldn’t have sent their relatives to the sea.

During the 2015 Chennai floods and during the Vardha cyclone in 2016, it was youngsters who helped to a greater extent to bring Chennai back to its life. Now I request all the youngsters to rush to Kanyakumari and help them in every way possible. Though they ask for no relief measures, it is our duty to lend our hands. Let the government help them in its own way. Let us all join hands together for the people weeping there and wipe their tears," said G.V.Prakash, through his statement.
