Indian film producer Guneet Monga, who has co-produced several classics like Masaan, The Lunchbox and many other films under the banner Shikya Entertainment and an instrumental figure in the Oscar campaign of the Vetrimaaran directed film Visaaranai has made the country proud by co-winnning the oscar in the category of Best Documentary short film for Period. End of sentence.

Directed by Iranian-American director Rayka Zehtabchi, Period: End of sentence throws light on the taboo on menstruation in rural India, and the measures taken by a handful of women and small-scale enterpreneurs to overcome the sanitary crisis. Period. End of sentence also showcases the work done by Arunachalam Muruganantham, a Coimbatore based entreprenuer and inventor. The project was concieved by a group of high school students based on Oakland who also founded the non-profit organization "The pad project", that aims to fight the miscoceptions surrounding menstruation.

In the director's oscar-winning speech, Rayka Zehtabchi said "I’m not crying because I’m on my period, or anything. I can’t believe a film about menstruation just won an Oscar." She went to thank  Guneet Monga and the people of Kathikera for empowering women to fight menstrual equality
