A fire broke out at popular film theatre in Kolkata, Priya Cinema, on Sunday night (August 5), and fortunately, no casualities were reported. The audience, who were watching the film inside the theatre, when this accident happened, had to immediately rush out of the theatre.
According to reports, one of the theatre staffs happened to see sudden smoke coming inside the theatre around 10.15 pm in the night. "People were inside when the fire broke out. The fire brigade acted promptly and the fire has been doused,", Kolkata mayor Sovan Chatterjee was quoted as saying.
Though the fire was brought under control, dispelling the smoke was apparently the challenging task for the firemen, who used oxygen masks to reach the people on the top of the building, on the roof. The reason for the fire is not clearly known or stated, and the officials are said to be examining on the cause of the accident.
Popular film distributor and actor, Arijit Dutta, of Priya Entertainment Pvt Ltd, is the managing director of the said cinema hall.
