During the mid-90s, Nambi Narayanan was a household name as the scientist was framed as a suspect in the infamous ISRO spying case. He got his final respite when the Central Bureau of Investigation quashed the case, thereby proving his innocence.

The scientist was awarded the Behindwoods Gold Medal for Icon of Inspiration - Science and Technology. Upon receiving the award, Nambi Narayanan said that he started his career with Abdul Kalam, another pioneering scientist who went on to become the country's President from 2002 to 2007.

Nambi Narayanan confessed that even though he rarely watches cinema, the recent films he enjoyed were two Tamil films- Vijay Sethupathi's 96 and director Manikandan's breakout debut Kaakka Muttai. The actor was all praise for the films' actors.

"Watching 96 made me feel that there is one point in life where people might have faced such situations. The actors (Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha) played their roles very well and hats off to the director (C.Premkumar).

Similarly, after watching Kaakka Muttai, I thought that acting doesn't require any learning"  Nambi Narayanan's life will be portrayed by  R. Madhavan in his silver screen adaptation Rocketry: The Nambi Effect.
