Director Hari is best known for making films that have his lead heroes playing cops. While Saamy that featured Chiyaan Vikram as DCP Aarusamy, his next were the Singam series - three films - where Suriya essayed the role of a sub-inspector, Durai Singam who rises in ranks to become ACP.
His last directed movie was the sequel to Saamy, Saamy Square, in which Aarusamy’s son Ramasamy, too, goes on to become an ACP and nabs the gangsters. These movies have created a separate fan-base who are ardently waiting for another cop flick by the director.
Meanwhile, the director has expressed his regret on directing five films that glorified the Tamil Nadu Police in his latest statement. Condemning the Jeyaraj-Fenix death that has shocked the entire nation, diretor Hari wrote in Tamil which roughly translates to - "An incident as horrible as Sathankulam deaths should never happen to anyone in Tamil Nadu. And the only way to ensure that is to give the most severe punishment to the accused.”
He further added, “A few cops’ mistake has tarnished the entire image of the police department. I regret directing five movies (Singam, Singam 2, Singam 3, Saamy and Saamy Square) that glorified the Tamil Nadu police.”
