Dhanush played the role of an ageing father in director Vetri Maaran's blockbuster drama Asuran. Also starring Manju Warrier, Ken Karunas, Teejay Arunasalam in important roles, The 'Vekkai' adaptation was produced by Kalaippuli S. Thanu of V Creations.
Thanu had announced that Asuran will be having a Telugu adaptation, with Venkatesh and Priyamani reprising Dhanush and Manju Warrier's roles in the film. Titled Narappa, the film is also produced by V Creations, in association with Suresh Productions while Sreekanth Addala directs the film.
Narappa has cinematography by Syam K. Naidu while Marthand K Venkatesh and Gandhi Nadikudikar handle the editing and art departments respectively. It was earlier all set to hit the screens on May 14th but was postponed due to the second wave.
Now, comes the official announcement from the lead actor, Venkatesh himself - “All my well-wishers and fans have been eagerly waiting to watch our film, #Narappa. Your love towards this film has been overwhelming for me and the team, who always ensured to go an extra mile just like Narappa.” The film will be premiered on the OTT platform, Amazon Prime Videos on July 20.
