This Diwali, Vijay's Mersal is hitting the screens. But do we have functional theaters in Tamil Nadu? It looks like its a desperate thought. We have been waiting for a possible decision for the past week with absolute doubt as to whether the Local entertainment tax will be withdrawn anytime soon or not.
Producer and columnist G Dhananjayan took to Twitter to express his disappointment and views on the same. He put up continuous tweets which have compiled as one statement. Read ahead to find out what he said;
"#Diwali is too big a festival holiday season to miss a new, high budget film like #Mersal...hence, I am hopeful some good solution soon :-). The industry is united to get Local Tax withdrawn &ticket price rationalization. May take couple of days more but surely a good solution :). I am afraid theatres may shut shop temporarily due to lack of audience if no new films for Diwali... crucial days ahead for Tamil Cinema π₯ππ"
