Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film Padmavati, which is slated to release on December 1, 2017, has been facing opposition from various Rajput communities. The outfits have reportedly claimed that, the film has a lot of historical facts that have been distorted and a romance between Rani Padmini and Allauddin Khilji which is wrongly depicted.
However, the makers, actors and several others like Salman Khan have supported the film and the director has denied this wrong depiction featuring in his film. With respect to this, it is now Deepika Padukone herself, who has given her statement regarding the release of ‘Padmavati’. She has reportedly told Bollywood media, “As a woman, I feel proud to be a part of this film, and to tell this story, which needs to be told. And it needs to be told now”.
