Following the success of the Karthik Subbaraj's Petta, Superstar Rajinikanth will be playing the role of a cop in ace director AR Murugadoss' Darbar. Co-starring Nayanthara as the female lead, the much-awaited action film also features Nivedha Thomas, Yogi Babu, Suniel Shetty, and others.
Bankrolled by Subaskaran under the banner Lyca Productions, Darbar features music by Anirudh Ravichander, while ace lensman Santhosh Sivan has shot the film. Darbar is set to release on Pongal next year.
Actor Raneesh Thiyagarajan, who has acted in Darbar and also in the director's Thala Ajith starrer Dheena, and Thalapathy Vijay's Thuppaki had an interaction with Behindwoods, where he shared his interesting experiences from the sets of Darbar. Raneesh shared that Rajini is one of the most humane people he has ever seen and that he is extremely humble and respecting. About his role, the actor shared he is part of the 4 people team who is directly under Adithya Arunasalam's command in the film.
The actor had also worked with AR Murugadoss in Mumbai, during the shoot of Thuppaki. "I used to show Rajini sir where we shot the scene when we go by car" and added that he used to talk about the how they managed crowds due to re-takes. Raneesh said that Rajini asked him "Oh, did Vijay sir come here?" when he was showing Rajini the locations.
