Daniel Balaji’s latest web series ‘Godman’, has created the latest controversy, after the teaser of the series was released. The one-minute odd teaser allegedly hurt the sentiments of the Brahmin community in the state, and they have been protesting to ban the series.
In a latest statement, ZEE5, which is the streaming platform of the series has said that the series will be suspended indefinitely for now. Actor Daniel Balaji, in an exclusive interview with Behindwoods, revealed some important information about the show.
Speaking about the show, he said “First of all, only a minute’s teaser has been released. The teaser has only half of the full dialogues uttered by the actors. Only if the full series is out, you will know what it is about.”
“Some people hurl abuses at me, just for the sake of it. One guy even asked me If I’ll eat shit for money. What can I say to all these abuses? They think it is a direct attack at Brahmins and Hinduism. It is not that way. We have not degraded any community in our series and only if the full series is seen, you will know.”
‘Godman’ stars Daniel Balaji, Jaya Prakash, and Sonia Agarwal in lead roles. The series is directed by Babu Yogeshwaran and was initially scheduled for a digital release from the 12th of June. The team has now started an online petition to the film fraternity, seeking signatures in support of the series’ release.
