Recently, Chennai based advocate Tamizhvendhan had filed a petition at the high court stating that theatres in the city should allow outside food to be taken inside. He had also stated that not allowing food to be taken inside was a Human Rights Violation, and theatres are selling eatables at a very high price.
On hearing and analysing this petition, the judges of the Chennai High Court have dismissed the petition, stating that a theatre is a private party’s property, and it is not right for the court to intervene in this issue.
It is to be noted that the State Government fixed the parking prices of tickets in theatres at Rs.20 for a car and Rs.10 for a two-wheeler, in 2017.
