Director Prabhu Solomon's Kumki was a big success, that gave the break for Vikram Prabhu and Lakshmi Menon in the year 2012. After a gap of 6 years, a sequel to the film has been announced and here are the official details regarding this new venture.
 

New face Mathiyazhagan will make his debut as the lead hero, through Kumki 2, while, actors like RJ Balaji, Susanne, Kolangal fame Thiruselvam are also part of the cast. Hareesh Peradi has been finalized as the antagonist. A specially trained elephant, who goes by the name, 'Unnikrishnan' plays the title character.

On the technical front, the film has cinematography by Sukumar (Mynaa, Kumki, Bairavaa fame), music by Nivas K Prasanna (Thegidi, Sethupathi fame), and editing by Bhuvan Srinivasan (Iru Mugan, Imaikkaa Nodigal fame). The makers have already started to shoot, and the filming is currently progressing in Siva Samudhiram Falls, near Mysore. Kumki 2 is the only next Tamil film after MGR's Idhayakani, to have scenes shot in that location.

Director Prabhu Solomon also adds that the team has not fixed on the heroine, and they are just shooting scenes involving the hero and the elephant. An official announcement on the film's heroine is expected to be made very soon.
