Aparna Balamurali had enthralled the audience with her performance as Bommi in Surya-starrer 'Soorarai Pottru', directed by Sudha Kongara. The movie opened to great reviews after its release on popular OTT platform Amazon Prime Video last year. The film was made available for screening at the 93rd Academy Awards, but was not nominated. A Hindi remake for the same is on cards which will also be produced by 2D Entertainment.
According to sources in the know, Aparna has been roped in to play the female lead in Karthi's next film with Director M Muthaiah. The project is produced by Suriya's 2D Entertainment. This is the second collaboration of Karthi and Muthaiah. The dynamic duo earlier teamed for the blockbuster rural entertainer 'Komban' which was a rural drama released in the year 2015.
Up next Karthi has Mani Ratnam's magnum opus 'Ponniyin Selvan'. Ponniyin Selvan is being jointly bankrolled by Allirajah Subaskaran and Mani Ratnam, under their Lyca Productions and Madras Talkies banners. Karthi also has PS Mithran's 'Sardar'. Karthi sported a new look like an elderly man in Sardar.
