BOFTA Mediaworks India Pvt. Ltd, is a film distribution and production firm based in Chennai with G. Dhananjayan at the helm of affairs. The organization has introduced a one-of-its kind initiative that will provide a wider platform for upcoming screenwriters and filmmakers.
The initiative enables scriptwriters to pitch their scripts to the production company, and if it interests them, the idea will be further presented to some of the big names of the industry. The synopsis of your script must be e-mailed to the official website of the company within the 18th of May. The synopsis must not exceed upto ten pages and the language must be in either English or Tamil. More details regarding the contest are published in their Twitter account.
When asked about the initiative, BOFTA's founder G. Dhananjayan replied "We have been approached by a lot of people in order pitch their scripts. But it is impossible for us to commit to all such calls. So we thought we give an oppurtunity for them (scriptwriters and filmmakers) to pitch their scripts by sending a detailed synopsis,". He furthed added "If the synopsis is good, we can arrange pitch meeting with the concerned writer, otherwise we can limit the number of entries. This becomes an open oppurtunity for those with a good script,".
The 'Kaatrin Mozhi' producer had also said that through this approach, scriptwriters need not wait at a producer's office for a script narration, and termed this initiative as a direct oppurtunity to approach producers and actors to pitch their synopsis and ideas.
