Oviya rose to fame after featuring in her debut Tamil film Kalvani co-starring with Vemal. She then went on to act in successful films like Kalakalappu and Yaamirukka Bayamey. However, her popularity took a big leap only after participating in the reality Bigg Boss season 1 Tamil.

However, she hasn't had a film release since Bigg Boss, some of her upcoming movies are Kanchana 3 and 90ML and Kalavani 2.
