A lot us were quite kicked when Akshay Kumar made his Tamil debut with Shankar’s 2.0 starring none other than Superstar Rajinikanth in the lead. However, as many of us might be thinking, this wasn’t the Bollywood superstar’s first south Indian movie presence.
Yes, he had rubbed shoulders with none other than the Kannada superstar late Vishnuvardhan in the 1993 bilingual Vishnu Vijaya (Ashaant in Hindi).
When Vishnuvardhan passed away in 2009, Akki had remarked: We did a Hindi and a Kannada version of Ashaant. The Kannada version was a super hit. The Hindi version was a flop. I realised Vishnuji was a much bigger star than I could ever be.
As far as Akshay Kumar is concerned, he keeps himself busy with a slew of projects, as is his style. Movie production across industries is mostly on the docks, temporarily.
