Ajith was recently appointed as the Helicopter Test Pilot and UAV System Adviser by the Madras Institute of Technology (MIT) to launch unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs).
The actor was assigned to help MIT build an advanced UAV for Medical Express-2018 UAV Challenge. Ajith, who first developed an interest in aero-modeling as a school student volunteered to be a part of MIT’s Team Dhaksha, which participated in the UAV Challenge.
The latest update on this competition is that the team has come 2nd in the Medical Express 2018 UAV Challenge. They were also the leaders in the flight section, with a lead of 3 points. Though, there were no overall winners. The organisers took to social media to announce this:
"Here are the Medical Express summary scores. A full breakdown will be sent to team captains later. No winner in 2018 but two teams came very close. Well done to Monash UAS and Team Dhaksha for ranking first and second respectively."
They also wished the team for coming 2nd in the competition.
"Congratulations Team Dhaksha on ranking #2 at the Medical Express Challenge. It was great to see full autonomy in your mission."
