Sivaji came with a lot of expectations considering it was the first collaboration between Superstar Rajinikanth and Ace director Shankar and it didn't disappoint the audiences.
However, a trivia about the film might make your morning. While Shriya Saran ended up playing the leading lady, the makers had initially wanted to cast Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in that role since she and Rajinikanth had never paired up, up until that point.
Rajinikanth had addressed the same during an event related to Chandramukhi and had said: When the makers of the movie approached me, I told them first to get the dates of Vadivelu, because he is a busy man. After which I asked to them to approach Aishwarya Rai. You might ask why her name crops up for every film of mine and wonder whether I like to do a duet with Aishwarya... we approached her for Padayappa to play the Neelambari character.
We then had offered her a role in Baba and changed the character once she was not part of the film. Then, the offer was sent to her for Chandramukhi. Imagine how this movie would have been if she had enacted the role (Jyothika's character). Now, we are in talks with her for Sivaji."
Ultimately, even that didn't happen and finally, the two came together for Endhiran, thereby making millions of fans happy.
