The Bollywood industry was left in shock after the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) arrested Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan in the Mumbai drug bust case on Cordelia Cruises' Empress ship. Besides Aryan, his friends Arbaaz Merchant and Munmun Dhamecha were also arrested in connection with the raid on October 3.
After three weeks of being in jail, Aryan Khan has now been granted bail by the Bombay High Court. His friends Arbaaz Merchantt and Munmun Dhamecha have also been granted bail. Aryan, who has been in Mumbai's Arthur Road jail since October 8, had been denied bail twice before. His lawyers had repeatedly pointed out that no drugs had been found on him.
During Thursday’s (October 28) hearing, ASG Anil Singh, representing the NCB, said that Aryan isn't a 'first-time offender' and has been 'consuming drugs for the past few years'. The NCB further said that liberal approach for bail cannot be taken in NDPS cases. On the other hand Mukul Rohatgi, appearing for Aryan Khan, said that nothing was recovered from his client, yet he was being charged with 'commercial quality through conspiracy'.
Justice NW Sambre allowed bail to the three accused after hearing former AG Mukul Rohatgi for Aryan Khan and ASG Anil Singh for the Narcotics Control Bureau. "The detailed order will be given tomorrow. Hopefully, they all will come out of the jail by tomorrow or Saturday," Former Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi, who represented Aryan Khan, said.
Many from the film industry voiced their support for SRK and his son Aryan including Salman Khan, Farah Khan, and Hrithik Roshan showing their solidarity with SRK. The Khans' Mumbai home, "Mannat", usually features legions of fans waiting for a glimpse of SRK. In the past few weeks, scores showed up in solidarity.
