Popular actress Sona is known for her memorable roles in various Tamil, Malayalam and Telugu films. She has played important roles in popular films including Rajinikanth's Kuselan, Ko, Guru En Aalu and more.
One of the upcoming films of the actress is in Malayalam, titled 'Pachamanga'. Directed by Jayesh Mynagappally, the trailer of the film released recently. Bankrolled by Jesheeda Shaji & Paul Ponmani, the film also stars Prathap Pothan in a crucial role.
The actress can be seen in one of the authentic local dressing styles of Kerala in the trailer and this had apparently raised comments on the actress that she is following the footsteps of Shakeela. The actress issued a statement, clarifying that she does not intend to do 'glamorous roles' and not to stereotype her as such. Her statement further clarified that the shooting of this film happened two and a half years ago and that she had given a statement post this film's shot that she will not be doing glamorous roles anymore.
"Pachamanga is a film with an emotional content made on the classic lines of Balu Mahendra sir’s touch. Just looking into my costumes, many have assumed that I have played a glamorous role, which is untrue. I have just replicated the way women dress in Kerala and haven’t crossed any limits." says the actress's statement. Check out the trailer of the film discussed, below:
