Actress Poorna, who was seen in Tamil films like Kandhakottai, is a part of a few films like Sasikumar’s Kodi Veeran and Savarakathi now. The actress has taken a bold step and gone on to shave her head for her role in Kodi Veeran. Talking about the decision, Poorna told Malayalam media:

“Savarakathi and Kodi Veeran are two important films that I have in Tamil now. After watching the Savarakathi teaser, I was asked by director Muthaiah and Sasikumar to act in Kodi Veeran. However, they told me that the role required me to shave my head.

Atf first I was hesitant, but later they asked me to listen to the script and then decide. Once I heard the script it touched a raw nerve. I knew I would do it. I’ve been in movies for a while and I realised it is better to do memorable roles than be part of all the commercial ventures at one go. I thought about it for two days and decided I would go for it.

Somehow, there was no way I could avoid the shaving part. The movie was being effortlessly shot in Madurai and I found myself shedding off my tresses on our sets. That natural scene too is now a part of the movie. It’s a crucial scene. I realized how important it was to the storyline only when I watched it later and I found it hard to recognise it was me.”
