During the audio launch function of the forthcoming Vijay-starrer Bigil, actor and the film's cast member, Vivekh, in his speech referred to the lyrics of 'Nenjil Kudiyirukkum', a song from the 1960 film Irumbuthirai that starred Sivaji Ganesan in the lead role. The actor then compared the verses with that of the fast-paced number 'Verithanam' from Bigil.
He opined that the line 'Nenjil Kudiyurukkum' didn't carry much effect at that period compared to the present time. This statement made by the actor was later condemned by 'Nadigar Thilagam Sivaji Samooga Nala Peravai,' a social welfare organization run by the actor Sivaji Ganesan's fans.
On 25th September, Vivekh took to his official Twitter account to issue clarification regarding the comment. In the post, the actor said that "During the time when Nadigar Thilagam Sivaji sang 'Nenjil Kudiyirukkum', the line carried a romantic tone. But now, the line has a magical feel when my friend Vijay utters it."
Produced by Kalpathi S. Aghoram under the banner AGS Entertainment, Bigil is co-written and directed by Atlee and stars Vijay and Nayanthara in lead roles. The film is set to release on Diwali 2019.
