Many actors have proved their mettle by the characters they play, choice of scripts, the effort they put into their roles, etc. The same analogy applies to Vishal who has now completed 15 years of entering the film industry.
Son of producer G.K. Reddy, Vishal entered the film industry as an assistant director to actor Arjun for the film 'Vedham'. His debut movie was 'Chellamae', in which he was paired along with Reema Sen. The actor was praised for his natural acting and his comedy sequences with Vivek in the movie are till date some of his best scenes. In his next 'Sandakozhi', he got a chance to act with veteran actor Rajkiran. This movie gave the actor his first 'action hero' image.
The films like Thimiru, Thamirabharani, Sivappathigaram, Malaikottai, though different in genres established the same. He played a cool, playboy character in 'Theeratha Vilaiyattu Pillai' which showcased the actor's capability to dazzle in a romantic role.
Vishal's career-defining moment as a performer happened with the Bala-directed 'Avan Ivan' . He was one of the two main leads of the movie, along with Arya. He played the role of an under-appreciated, squint-eyed stage actor and is rumored to have felt discomfort in doing the same, but he has portrayed the role flawlessly. Towards the climax, the scenes in which he emotes in the 9 emotions namely the Navarasas were commended by everyone.
Since then, his films continued with actor playing mass hero roles, until his debut Malayalam film Villain, which starred Mohanlal as the lead. He played the role of a corrupt cop in his latest flick, Ayogya. The movie had a different climax than one would seldom expect, and the film went on to be a commercial hit.
Vishal has also donned the role of producer, churning out critically and commercially successful films in various genres such as the detective thriller Thupparivalan, in which his character was inspired by Sherlock Holmes and the cyber-crime thriller Irumbu Thirai to name a few. He currently holds the position of president of the Tamil Film Producers Council and is the outgoing general secretary of the South Indian Artistes Association, popularly known as Nadigar Sangam. In the recent past, Vishal had also cut his teeth in the television field, hosting Sun Naam Oruvar, a talk show that was aired on Sun TV. With today being the day 15 years ago his debut film 'Chellamae' was released, here's wishing the star Good Luck!
