ACTOR SURIYA KEEPS HIS WORD - TAKES THE FIRST GIANT STEP FROM SOORARAI POTTRU REVENUE; PICS OUT!

It came as a great surprise and equally saddening news when actor Suriya’s much-awaited film, Soorarai Pottru was announced to have a direct OTT release. Directed by Sudha Kongara and produced by 2D Entertainment, the film will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on October 30, in over 200 countries.

The actor had recently announced that he will be donating Rs 5 crore from the revenue generated from his upcoming film to the general public, corona warriors as well as film technicians and workers, who are in need.

And as promised, the actor has taken the first big step today on August 28. Suriya has donated a total sum of Rs 1.5 crores - Rs 1 crore given to FEFSI (a cheque of Rupees 80 Lakh was handed over to FEFSI President R.K. Selvamani and a cheque for Rupees 20 Lakh was handed over to R.V. Udhaykumar, Secratary, TANTIS for the director’s union, which is an integral part of FEFSI)

A cheque for Rs 30 lakh was given to Producer Kalaipuli S.Thanu for Tamil Nadu Film Producer’s Council, which will be handed over to the special officer. Another cheque of Rs 20 lakh was handed over to Actor Nasser, which will be given to the special officer of Nadigar Sangam.

The event was held at Bharathiraja Film Institute, Teynampet and was presided over by Bharathiraja, Sivakumar, Suriya, 2D Co-Producer Rajsekar Karpoorasundarapandian and office-bearers of the respective bodies. TFAPA members Suresh Kamatchi and Lalithkumar too participated.
