Recently, actor Shaam made the headlines after a few reports suggested that the ‘12B’ actor had been arrested at his residence in Chennai for illegally running a gambling unit. A lot of false reports surfaced around Shyam.
In an exclusive Interview with Behindwoods, Shaam has cleared the air on all the controversies surrounding him recently. He also opened up about his visit to the police station on the 27th of July.
Speaking about the issue, Shaam said “It is very shocking to see that such a crime is pointed towards me. What happened that night and what people have interpreted are completely different. I want to clear the air on everything.”
He added saying “I do not run a gambling unit at my residence. Usually, before the lockdown, me and my friends used to get together and play some sports, either cricket or football. Now, due to the corona scare, we are not able to do that. It had been a long time since we met and so, we planned for a small meet at my place to play Poker. It is a game we usually enjoy playing.”
“We always play Poker for fun and just to keep track of who is winning and who is losing, we use the Poker coins. That was all. We never used any money and we never have. Maybe at times, when someone ends up as the loser, we might ask him to pay the bill or so, but we never gamble with money.”
“Through some source, there has been a misinformation that has been sent to the police department. They came for an inquiry to my apartment on the 27th. I asked them to carry-on with the search and everything went smooth. SInce they had carried out a search at my place, they called me to the station, just to get a signature. It took hardly 5 seconds. From that, someone spread the news that I got arrested.”
Shaam also expressed his disappointment over all the fake news and the baseless rumours that have been flooding the internet, tarnishing his name. He also put forth a strong statement that there is nothing above law and it was the duty of the cops to carry out the raid, based on the information they had been given.
“Although there was no fault, I do accept that I could have avoided gathering a small crowd at my place during this time. The cops also told me the same and I’ve told them that until a vaccine arrives, I’ll refrain from these small gatherings,” signed off Shaam.
