Thalapathy Vijay is known for his superb growth from his initial days in the early 1990s, to now. Today, he has one of the biggest fan bases an actor could have and is greatly loved across the state.
There is a heavy amount of craze for him and his films have been faring well in the box office, making him an important leader of many box office records.
We have all seen Vijay's close friend Sanjeev, who has even acted alongside him in films like Badri and Puthiya Geethai and featured in various TV programs. Sanjeev was recently seen in Saamy Square.
In an exclusive conversation with Behindwoods, Sanjeev was asked about the initial times in which a magazine had reported an article ridiculing Vijay's looks. He gives us an insight into Vijay's frame of mind at that point in time.
"When that happened, he cried and cried and cried all night. I'm not very sure, but I think it happened on New Year night or Christmas night. Obviously, when any newcomer faces such a comment about his looks in a leading magazine, that is what will go and reach the audience.
The media, press, actors, television, and everybody influences the audience. So now there's an added responsibility on us for the next film, to make sure we erase this influence of the viewers. At the age of 20, anybody would have gotten vexed. Today's Vijay would have handled it differently.
But after that, he was determined to prove himself and he did. The same magazine came back to him for a cover story, later on."
