The ongoing Coronavirus pandemic has rendered everyone helpless, as curfew and self-isolation have everyone locked down in their own houses. A gleam of hope is what everyone cling on to, and for some people it's their religious beliefs. But when the same is questioned and ridiculed, people get hurt personally.
Apparently a group of people, through their YouTube channel Karuppar Koottam have ridiculed the 'Kandhar Shashti Kavasam' - a song dedicated to Lord Murugan. The song is composed in the form of a request to protect all the parts of the body, and apparently, a video has been released by Karuppar Koottam making derogatory remarks against the lines of the song.
This has hurt the religious beliefs of many, and thus there has been a huge uproar against them, and many have raised their voice against this. In a recent interview to Behindwoods, actor Prasanna has expressed his unhappiness over the issue.
Speaking about the video Prasanna said, "Everyone has their own beliefs and opinions. No one asked you to visit the temples or forced you. If you do not like it, don't read it or don't believe our customs. You have every right to preach your beliefs. But you cannot slit our throats and force us to follow your traditions and thoughts."
He also added, "It is not that there are shortcomings in any religion. There may or may not be. But you are no one to question the belief of the people - you can try whatever to shake our beliefs, but you simply cannot. After these lockdown and restrictions clear, there will be people returning to temples maybe more in number than usual. You simply cannot change no matter how much you try."
