Man wins Rs 3 crore lawsuit after unwanted office birthday party caused panic attack

Kevin Berling is a native of Kentucky, USA. He worked as a technician in the laboratory at Gravity Diagnostics. The birthday celebrations that were then celebrated in the office caused a panic attack. So, he told the manager not to celebrate his birthday like this. He also said that the celebrations were frightening and rekindled the embarrassing childhood memories.
But, the company has hosted a surprise birthday party for Kevin. So he immediately left the office and went to his car and relaxed. Following this, he sent a message to his manager in this regard. The next day in the office colleagues teased Kevin. Also, the company has terminated Kevin from working.
Kevin has appealed to the court that ‘it is not fair to dismiss him for having an unwanted birthday party even though he said no’.
The trial court ordered the company to pay Kevin $ 450,000 in damages. It is worth about Rs. 3.4 crore. However, the company said it had no plans to pay compensation and would appeal the verdict.
