This painting has the distinction of being the most expensive painting sold in the 20th century. Prior to this, the painting "Women of Algiers" by the famous painter Pablo Picasso had sold for a record $ 179.4 million in 2015.

One of the best-selling paintings in history is Leonardo da Vinci's "Salvador Mundi". The painting went on sale in 2017 for a record $ 450.3 million.

Monroe's painting, which was previously expected to fetch $ 200 million, is currently up for auction for 195.04 million.
