The war between Ukraine and Russia has been going on for more than a month. Ukraine's major cities have been devastated by Russian missile strikes. Thousands of Ukrainians have been killed in the attack. Millions more have taken refuge in neighboring countries.
In this context, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres visited war-torn parts of Ukraine yesterday. He spoke in support of the US Alliance, but said that maintaining some independence was not the answer.
Following this, Antonio Guterres was visiting the area near the Ukrainian capital, Kiev. Russia launched a missile attack a short distance from where he was then. This has caused a great deal of controversy internationally.
The death toll from the attack has not yet been released. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has condemned Russia's attack as an insult to the United Nations.
