Pervez Musharraf

Pervez Musharraf was born on August 11, 1943 in Delhi. The Musharraf family emigrated to Pakistan in 1947 during the Indo-Pakistani partition. He served in the army for many years and became the army commander in 1998 during the Nawaz Sharif regime. Shortly after taking office, Nawaz overthrew the regime and took over the leadership of the country.

Musharraf then served as President of Pakistan from 2001 to 2008. Musharraf resigned after his party lost the election and emigrated to the United Arab Emirates. He then returned to Pakistan and returned to Dubai after losing the election.

Maximum sentence

An Islamabad court has sentenced him to life imprisonment for operating outside the law in Pakistan in 2007. However, Musharraf, who lives in Dubai, was reportedly unwell. Musharraf was admitted to a local hospital three weeks ago. His health was reported to be deteriorating. His family has since issued a statement.

Irreversible state

A statement from Musharraf's family said, "He is not on the ventilator. Has been hospitalized for the last 3 weeks due to a complication of his ailment (Amyloidosis).  Going through a difficult stage where recovery is not possible and organs are malfunctioning. Pray for ease in his daily living."

Following reports of former Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf's health, a statement from his family has gone viral on social media.
