Famous rapper's love letters sold for Rs 2.2 crore - full details!

Letters from popular rapper Tupac Amaru Shakur had recently been put up for auction.

Tupac Amaru Shakur was born in Harlem, New York, USA. The son of Afeni Shakur and Billy Garland, active members of the Black Panthers party in the 1960s and 1970s, he was an avid hack and letter writer.

Tupac's life was full of turning points as he became interested in music and singing. He died unexpectedly at the age of 25.

Auction

Letters written by Tupac in his teens came up for auction on March 30 at Sotheby's, a London-based auction house. At the age of 11, Tupac wrote haiku for his godfather, who was imprisoned for working with the Black Panthers. The manuscript of the haiku, signed "Tupac Shakur, Future Freedom Fighter", sold for $ 302,400 (Rs. 2.2 crore in Indian currency).

Love Letters

Love letters written by Tupac at a young age also went on sale at the auction. These are said to have been obtained from a woman named Cosima. Among them were letters written by Tupac at the time to Jada Pinkett, the wife of Hollywood actor Will Smith.

In addition, his fans have been competing to buy the letters he wrote at various times about his family members and his music career.

Car

Tupac's demise, amidst various controversies, shook the music world. Tupac, who was shot while on his car, died on September 13, 1996. The car he last traveled in came up for auction last 2017. The last used car by Tupac was auctioned for US $ 1.5 million (11 crores in Indian currency).
