Researchers have discovered the skull of a giant sea creature in an area of Peru last Thursday. Analysts say the creature, which was the forerunner of all existing whales, was enormous.

36 million years

The skull of this sea creature was discovered during the research conducted in Peru. Archaeologists say the skull creature lived 36 million years ago.

Researchers have suggested that the creature may have been an ancient mammal, the bacillus. These animals, part of the aquatic Cetacean family, are said to have been once vast and aggressive. The animal is a precursor to existing whales, dolphins and porpoises.

Giant Snake

The word bacillosorus means 'king of reptiles'. However, these animals do not belong to the reptile genus. "These animals, which looked like giant snakes, were not reptiles," say researchers.

The 39-foot-long animal is said to have a strong tendency to attack its prey. Cetacean mammals lived on Earth 55 million years ago and may have become extinct as a result of a meteorite impact.

A giant meteorite has crashed 10 million years ago on the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico. As a result, many species, including the dinosaur that once inhabited the earth, became extinct.
