Researchers have discovered one of the oldest trees in the South American country of Chile. This tree is located in the vast forest located in the southern part of the country. Analysts say it may be as old as 5,000 years. Researchers have also named the tree the great grandfather because of its age.

Researchers who have studied the trunk of the tree to determine its age suggest that the tree may be at least 5000 years old.

Generally, we will calculate the rings located on the tree to determine its age as we read in schools. For this, a meter-long stem section will be cut by the researchers. However, the researchers said that the trunk of the tree was found to be 4 meters in diameter.

The tree is reported to be 5,484 years old through their extraction sample and other age calculations. Jonathan Perichevich, the scientist who led the study, said: "The study found that the tree was 80 percent more likely to be 5,000 years old.

This ancient tree, found in Chile, is second only to the pine tree in California, now known as the world's oldest tree. Preserved in California, USA, this tree is 4,853 years old.

Located in the Aller Costero National Park in Chile, the tree attracts tourists with interest. Also, the park management has stated that many people like to stand on the grand base and take photos.
