This was followed by the relocation of Indian students to neighboring Ukraine, including Poland, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania. To rescue them, the Indian government launched Operation Ganga.

So far, the Government of India has operated 75 aircraft under this special rescue program. It is reported that about 14,000 Indians trapped in Ukraine have been rescued. Airlines like Air India, SpiceJet and Indigo are involved in this work. Among these warriors was Mahasweta Chakraborty, who worked as a pilot for Indigo Airlines.

Mahasweta, originally from Kolkata, West Bengal, is the daughter of Tanuja Chakraborty, a BJP leader in West Bengal.

Mahasweta, who has been a pilot with Indigo for the past four years, has flown a total of six rescue flights from February 27 to March 7. Of these, he has flown four times from Poland and twice from Hungary to India.

Speaking on the occasion, Mahasweta said, "It was a lifetime experience". Mahasweta, who rescued 800 Indian students from Ukraine's neighboring countries, is also working on the 'Vande Bharat' project, a special aviation service announced by the Indian government during the Corona era.
