The other nations of the world are actively trying to find their own people living in Ukraine and are trying out their best to evacuate them via special airlines. India also has kickstarted the operation which they have named now as Operation Ganga.

The Indian government is rescuing students and Indians studying in Ukraine. Several of them are forced to travel via land routes to neighbouring countries like Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Moldova. News of an Indian man refusing to leave his full-term pregnant wife and return to India has grabbed attention.

The wife of this Indian is a native of Ukraine. She is currently 8 months pregnant. He said, "I'm an Indian citizen, can go to India but not my wife, who is a Ukrainian; I have been told that only Indians will be evacuated; can't leave my family here. My wife is 8-months pregnant, will be moving to Poland. We're currently at a friend's place in Lviv."

Recovery Action

On February 26, two days after the start of the war in Ukraine, the Indian government announced Operation Ganga. In this regard, Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia informed via his Twitter handle on Sunday that India has successfully evacuated more than 15,920 students from Ukraine on 76 flights.

Of these, 6,680 were sent on 31 flights from Romania, 5,300 on 26 flights from Hungary, 2,822 on 13 flights from Poland and 1,118 on six flights from Slovakia.
