Dubai number plate sells for 73 Crore - Here are the details!

A man has bought a particular number plate for 35 million dirhams (73 crores in Indian currency) at a vehicle license auction in Dubai. This is now the talk of the town around the world.

Every year during Ramadan, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, King of Dubai and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates, runs a program to provide free food to poor people around the world. Accordingly, the King of Dubai announced plans to feed 100 million people worldwide this year. An exclusive auction of vehicle licenses was recently held to raise funds for this. The number plates that came up for auction in Dubai have sold millions.

The exclusive auction was jointly organized by the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority, the Abu Dhabi Police and the Emirates Auction Company. The number plate AA8 was auctioned for 35 million dirhams.

Similarly, two number plates F55 and V66 were auctioned for 4 million dirhams each and number plate Y66 for 3.8 million dirhams.

The most expensive number plate in the world so far is the F1. The number plate, registered in Essex County, England in 1904, was purchased in 2008 by renowned car designer Afzal Khan. It is valued at US $ 45 million (345 crores in Indian currency).
