In a bizarre case, a girl from Nebraska, U.S., decided to burn a love letter from her ex-boyfriend.
According to Associated Press, the woman, 19, used a butane torch to burn the letters in her bedroom, then left some of the letters on the floor. She then walked into another room to take a small nap. Suddenly, she woke up to find the carpet on fire and the smoke alarm set off.
Meanwhile, Lincoln Police Department spokesperson told Daily Mail, "She had used a small butane torch to light some letters on fire from her ex. But they weren't lighting on fire so she set them down on the carpet and went to take a nap. She didn't realise they were smoldering."
"They smoldered and set the carpet on fire, causing her to wake up when the smoke detector was going off," he added.
On an immediate call, firefighters were able to extinguish the fire within minutes. But sadly, the fire had caused an estimated $4,000 in damage to the building. Thankfully, no one was injured.
This is not the first incident that took place, a similar case happened in 2017, a man used a blow torch to kill a spider and his whole house blew up in flames.
