Woman Gives Birth To Baby Without Face, Doctor Gets Suspended
Home > News Shots > World newsIn a shocking and bizarre case, a doctor from Portugal has been suspended over negligence after a baby was born without a face.
The child has been identified as Rodrigo, who was born on October 7 while the doctor is identified as Dr Artur Carvalho.
The medical experts and doctors were shocked during the delivery as the child was born without a nose, eyes or part of his skull. Surprisingly, the child's deformities were only noticed during the delivery at a hospital.
Taking the matter into consideration over the negligence by the doctor, Portugal's Medical Council decided to suspend Dr Carvalho from practising for six months.
According to NDTV reports, Dr Carvalho has six other complaints against him since 2013. This news went viral after the council demanded an investigation following the parents of the baby, who made a complaint.
The complaint stated that, Dr Caravalho who had followed the pregnancy of Rodrigo's mother performed three mandatory ultrasounds but did not alert the parents of any issues regarding the baby.
Currently, the baby is admitted in the same hospital where he was born and is under medical care.
