VIDEO: Nurse Makes An Emotional Appeal To Public Says, "We’re on our knees"
Home > News Shots > World newsAs the number of COVID-19 cases are on rise, a National Health Service (NHS) nurse has made an emotional appeal to the common public to observe lockdown measures strictly. The nurse has been identified as Shirley Watts, who recorded a video which has left the world in shock. Watts, is an operating theatre nurse at Basildon University Hospital in Essex.
In her video, she posted a tearful request for all to stay at home and support the NHS as the deadly coronavirus pandemic is bringing medical staff to their knees. While speaking on the video she said, "Things are pretty desperate .... we're all having a really hard time. We're desperately short of staff. Things are really difficult and we're all really struggling."
Further urging the people to stay home, she stated, "I'm just saying to you all to stay in. If you stay in and you don't spread it and you don't catch it that takes the pressure off us. We're trying to save lives, we're all just doing what we can to save people's loved ones and I want you to see me like this because I want people to realise how serious it is."
"If you know anyone that's going out and they don't need to if you see groups of people, I want you to say something to them. I want you say 'you need to stay indoors and you need to stop spreading it, you need to stop catching it'. We're putting ourselves in danger to save to try and save other people's loved ones," she cried while saying so.
"It feels like a losing battle, but it's not because we've all got hope and we're all trying to do what we can," she finally added.
Shirley made this video, after finishing a six hour shift, where she informed the viewers that she was going back home to sleep for another shift tonight. Watch the sad video below:
