Volcanic Eruption Rocks Indonesia : 20 Villages Covered in Thick Ash – Report

Indonesia witnessed a volcanic eruption at the Sumatra Island on Monday which sent a column of volcanic materials blazing high up in the air. The sprouting materials went as high as 5,000 metres (16,400 feet) into the sky.
The Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation Centre at Indonesia reported no fatalities or injuries. However, the villages which are located within 5 kilometre radius are asked to be aware and are on alert for lava. However, a thick layer of ash has covered villages which are located within 20 kilometre radius (12.4 miles).
Reportedly 30,000 people have been forced to desert their homes in the mountains in the past few years in order to avoid causalities.
This volcano is one of the two which are currently erupting in Indonesia. Previously these eruptions killed two people in 2010, 16 people in 2014, and 7 in 2016. Reports suggest that 120 active volcanos are present in Indonesia.
