US Election 2020: From Donald Trump Going to Supreme Court to Twitter Place Warning on Trump's Recent Tweet; All Updates Here!
Home > News Shots > World newsAs the US Presidential Election began yesterday, there were more than 100 million Americans, who cast their ballots, according to the US Elections Project watchdog.
US President Donald Trump and Democratic challenger Joe Biden are currently battling it out for the White House. As results are flowing in from various cities, US media are projecting wins for the Republican incumbent in 23 states including Florida and Texas.
With recent updates, Joe Biden has captured 18 states including his home state Delaware along with California and New York.
So far, Biden has 224 electoral votes and Trump 213, after Nebraska split its electoral votes between the two -- four for Trump and one for Biden, as per CNN and Fox News. While, the magic number of electoral votes is 270.
Meanwhile, earlier in the day, twitter removed Trump’s tweet for ‘making a potentially misleading claim’. Twitter said it has placed a warning on a tweet from “@realDonaldTrump (Donald Trump's personal handle)” for “making a potentially misleading claim” about the election and that the action is “in line with our Civic Integrity Policy”.
States won by Donald Trump so far: Utah, Mississippi, Idaho, Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana, Alabama, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, South Carolina and West Virginia.
States won by Joe Biden so far: California, Washington, Washington DC, Oregon, Colorado, New York, New Mexico, Vermont, Illinois, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Virginia, New Jersey and Maryland.
Looking into other details, Indian-origin Democratic Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi has been re-elected to the US House of Representatives for the third consecutive term. He was born in New Delhi. He easily defeated Preston Nelson of the Libertarian Party. As per tentative result, he has secured nearly 71 percent of the total votes counted so far.
Later in the day, Joe Biden addressed his supporters. He has not claimed victory so far. “We feel good about where we are. We believe that we are on track to win the election. But we going to have to be patients until every vote, every ballot is counted,” Biden said.
As Biden is leading Trump marginally in the overall Electoral College vote tally so far. Things can still change quickly. Amid all this, Trump has claimed victory and has said he'll move the Supreme Court to dispute the counting process.
