US Becomes First Country To Record Highest Single-Day Rise In 24 Hours
Home > News Shots > World newsAs the worldwide death toll from the deadly coronavirus has crossed 100,000 with about 1.6 million cases, United States (US) has now become the first country in the world to record more than 2,000 deaths in one day.
As per the Coronavirus Resource Center at the John Hopkins University, the US has registered 2,108 fatalities in the past 24 hours. With this rise in death toll, the US has now recorded 18,586 deaths so far. While Italy stands second, with records of 18,849 deaths, which reports the most number of fatalities in the world.
Taking a look at the most number of cases, US tops the chart with nearly 29% of total cases, while Italy tops the death toll chart with 18.7% of total deaths.
Highlighting about US, as per news agency AFP report, New York is worst affected with more than 6,000 deaths so far.
